The conversion of agricultural buildings now represents a real opportunity to optimize production tools while addressing the economic and environmental challenges faced by farms.
We recently supported EARL REALAP in the complete transformation of a former rabbit facility into a high-performance and functional pig building.
A Facility Redesigned for Performance
The project enabled the creation of:
- 🐷 1,530 finishing places
- 🐷 780 post-weaning places
The objective was clear: modernize the infrastructure, optimize technical and economic performance, and ensure animal comfort while making the most of the existing structure.
Tailored and High-Performance Technical Solutions
To meet the project’s requirements, several technical solutions were implemented:
🔹 Optimized Feeding with the Optimat Pneumatic System
The installation of an Optimat pneumatic feeding system ensures efficient feed distribution in both the finishing and post-weaning rooms.
This system provides:
- Reliable and uniform feed distribution
- Optimized feed flow management
- Reduced waste and feed losses
🔹 Selfifeeder GFI Feeding Stations
The installation of Selfifeeder GFI feeding stations allows controlled feeding adapted to the animals’ needs.
The results include:
- Improved feed efficiency
- Enhanced production performance
- Increased animal comfort
🔹 Energy Performance and Temperature Control
The project also integrates a propane gas boiler coupled with a biogas (methanization) unit, enabling:
- Improved energy autonomy
- Optimized energy recovery
- Reduced environmental footprint
In addition:
- Ambient heating in post-weaning
- Precise temperature maintenance in finishing
ensure optimal growing conditions and animal welfare.
A Model Conversion Project
This project perfectly illustrates how an existing building can be transformed into a modern, efficient, and sustainable production facility.
We would like to warmly thank the farm for its trust, as well as all the visitors who came to discover this successful conversion project and share valuable discussions around its development.
